How to Create A Successful Vacation If You Only Have 3 Days

Most of us dream of spending two weeks (or longer) in the vacation destination of our choice. However, we all know that taking a lengthy amount of time out of normal life isn’t the most realistic idea. Traveling is an essential part of life that everyone should experience. It’s beneficial to the mind, body, and soul, and gets you out of your everyday habitual routine. Here are some expert tips on achieving a successful vacation in 3 days.

Avoid over-planning

Try to select a few prime attractions that you want to see, but consider your limited amount of time. If you plan too much, you’ll be stuck feeling overwhelmed and stressed rather than relaxed and excited.

Also factor in things like drive time, how touristy a place is, if you need tickets, etc. Another bonus: the less rigid you are about your planning, the more likely it is that you’ll experience unexpected surprises.

..But, make sure your accommodations are in order

One thing you should be extra sure to do before your trip is plan your accommodations. Figuring out where to stay on a whim can either work out successfully, or become way too time consuming – and you don’t want to take that risk.

Book your hotel in advance, and do a little bit of research on its surrounding areas so you have a good idea of what to expect.

Be Flexible About Your Destination

If you only have a few days, try to think carefully and be open minded about the destination. Think of places that offer plenty of sites in the same region to minimize your travel time.

For example, you can see a plethora of New York City’s main attractions in a single weekend, since the city is so centralized and boasts numerous transportation options. Or if you’re looking for something a little more nature-esque, consider Asheville, North Carolina, which occupies tons of land, mountains, and hiking trails all within a few miles from the main downtown center.

Take a Digital Detox

It’s great to unplug when you go somewhere new, especially if you have limited time. This way, you become much more in-tune to what’s going on around you, build authentic experiences, and cherish time with your travel partners, or yourself if you’re going solo. Save the social media until after you return from your trip – although picture-taking is a must!

Pack Light

It’s always tempting to overpack, but try to limit the items you’re bringing on a 3 day trip. A lighter load will make your trip more enjoyable, and the treacherous event of unpacking less painful! Plus, packing light leaves extra room for souvenirs.
